Charles Osgood and Shep

I just finished watching Charles Osgood -- whose real name is Charles Osgood Wood -- air his last CBS News Sunday Morning TV show. In our house, it has been must-see TV for decades. Osgood was almost certainly a Shep fan. He and Shep were both heard on CBS radio in the 1970s. And on Osgood's TV program of Sunday, October 17, 1999, he noted the passing of Shep the previous day. Osgood has some things in common with Shep, including an appreciation of both good music and good stories. But most of all, they both were blessed with great voices that allowed you to "see them on the radio." |
