Yes, I think so. I'm not sure where that might be located. |

The Visitor Center
is west of Kennedy Avenue where the old Optimist Park used to be, between the expressway and the Little Cal River. The site was redeveloped some years ago. The lake is still there, and two hotels occupy the northwest part of the old Park. |

Are the Kennedy Park apartments still across the street? |

No. Those apts were torn down. I want to say about two years ago. That's too bad, too. Those were some nice places when first built. Then the 'I-don't-give-a-craps' started moving in and it all began to fall apart. The city had a big 'demonize Kennedy park apts' program which put alot of sunlight on the crime and other goings on in that place. This was in an effort to get them torn down, but I suspect that the investors (of the new motels) put pressure on the fathers to acquire the land. There is a web site out there somewhere that has a bunch of photos of the razing process...Cj
BTW: The name was changed to River Park Apartments before they were razed. Remember that if you go looking for some past article or something. |
