Cool, Mike!
Those Christmas tree ornaments sure take me back in time. They look just like some that we used back in those days.
That was a cool Christmas present, too. I would have liked something like that, but I don't remember being as heavily into dinosaurs as you and your brother were.

I noticed that there was a Manger scene beneath your Christmas tree!
Good for you and your parents...keeping the real meaning of Christmas...and dinosaurs too, of course! |

Glad you like it, Tom! If I'm not mistaken, we may still have some of those ornaments. [:)]

Boy, is that kid in the picture handsome!
This is Larry Rapchak, the kid with the Marx Dino set.
Yes, as my brother Mike says, we still DO have many of those ornaments. Also, as I write this, am holding in my hand one of the ORIGINAL Dinos that you see in the picture: the Kronosaurus...the sea-serpent type dude who's in the pond. Still got him.
The stable under the tree still survives; the cardboard structure
would need some fixing, but all of the plastic figures are still
used every Christmas at my home! (I constructed a new stable around 1983). The original was purchased by our parents sometime 1950-52.
But the Marx Dino set was incredible----possibly surpassed only by the
great Miller "Earth Invaders" aliens which we got the next year for Christmas.

Larry - great story and how cool that you still have the dinosaurs, the ornaments and the creche figurines. "Wesolech Swiat" as we say in the vernacular of the Polish peasantry! |
