It looks like the rest of the country was not so luckI talked with one of my younger brothers in Ohio on Sunday and they were getting 50 and 60 mph winds. Mother Nature can play nasty games. My prayers are with the region. I lived real close to the Little Cal both in Hammond and in Munster. Would have gotten nailed at either place had we been there now. Jim Still runnin against the wind.

ALWAYS HAD FLOODS DOWN IN SUMAVA AROUND THE KANKAKEE RIVER AND SOME BY THE LITTLE CAL, RIGHT AT THE HAMMOND/HIGHLAND/MUNSTER BORDER AND AROUND HART DITCH TOO.... NEVER ANYTHING THAT BAD THOUGH... ALL THE ASPHALT AND CONCRETE WILL JUST ADD TO THOSE PROBLEMS... JUST HOPE EVERYONE STAYED SAFE... BRIZ 1957
09-17-2008 ( Reply#: 2357 )	Tom J	We had winds as high as 65 MPH to the west of me and 73 MPH to the NE of me on Sunday morning, when the remnants of Ike passed through here in western KY. I don't know what the official high wind speed here in my immediate area was, but it must have been at least 60 to 70 MPH. It only takes a wind speed of 75 MPH to be classified a Category 1 hurricane, I'm told. The sustained winds were around 40 to 50 MPH, and it lasted for a couple hours. Thousands of people in KY are still without power from all the trees falling on power lines and from power poles being blown down. 09-17-2008 ( Reply#: 2358 )	seejay2	The weather people said this was a piece of Ike, but this rain started pounding us before Ike even made landfall in Texas. I will never claim to know anything about weather pattern, but it seemed really odd to me that this amount of precipitation up north could be coming from something that hadn't even arrived yet in the south. It wasn't so much just the pouring down rain that hit the area, it was all the rivers and creeks that spilled over. When Chicago closes all the locks because they literally don't want our crap coming their way, the rivers reverse direction it's time to hunker down. I saw it happen before when I lived in Highland in the 80's. Indpls Blvd was closed and we were sandbagging all night keeping the Lil Cal at bay........Cj
