Jean Shepherd on Route 1 Date: 04-18-2007 By: diskojoe	I watched Jean Shepherd on Route 1 this past wet, rainy & windy weekend here in New England[V] & I noticed that he recycled many bits from Shepherd's Pie (the junkyard segment, for example). Another thing I noticed is that after the show, it goes into an old Morton Downey, Jr. show!	5

04-30-2007 ( Reply#: 1514 )	sheptapes	The Downey show just happened to be on the end of tape, and since there was extra tape, I just let it run. I wonder if anyone makes it past that to the preview of The Clinton live show on the end. Yes, Shep recycles. It was the same producer on both shows. Previously, they used the same steel mill footage in all three of the PBS movies.

05-25-2008 ( Reply#: 2051 )	cgn37vet	I am not sure if this is what you're talking about . I remember on NJTV (public broadcasting )I guess it was Shepherds Pie since I watched it all the time , a 90 second movie he made of an entire trip on route 1 from NY to Philadelphia .

05-27-2008 ( Reply#: 2054 )	diskojoe	What I was talking about was a program that came out in the early 80s called Jean Shepherd on Route 1, which lasted about an hour & which I purchased from Max on tape (& now transfered to DVD) along w/The Phantom of the Open Hearth (which I watched this past weekend). As indicated from the earlier posts, a lot of it was recycled from Shepherd's Pie, but it's still pretty enjoyable.
